Planning Activities with the 5 Practice: Synthesis (OUR Math 6-8)

Focus Area: Open Up Resources Math K-8

Instructional Coaches, Teachers

Phase: Targeted Support

Available July 2024

Problem-based instruction is driven by student ideas and strategies that arise when they work on rich mathematical tasks. Teachers create the conditions to solicit these ideas and intentionally use them to facilitate each phase of an activity. In this 2-hour virtual activity planning session, participants will explore the purpose and goals of the activity synthesis and how the practice of connecting bridges student thinking to learning goals.

I create an environment that supports students to collaborate and communicate about their math thinking.

  • 2 hours
