Overview

In this course, you will build awareness of how the IM Math 6-12 Curriculum is designed to be accessible for all students and how to increase access to each lesson for students with disabilities and all students without removing the rigor of the math.

Specifications

  • 1 hour self-directed course
  • Participants will need a computer with Internet access

Learning Experience

  • LEARN: Participants will learn to recognize the embedded features of a lesson that make the content accessible, then learn how to unpack a lesson for the content and cognitive demands required of students to achieve the goals of a lesson.
  • DO: Once participants have identified the content and cognitive demands of an upcoming lesson, they will purposefully plan to leverage the existing supports or add additional scaffolds or strategies to increase access for students with disabilities to that lesson.
  • CALL TO ACTION: Participants will reflect on how to continue to make meaningful, rigorous mathematical lessons accessible for all students, every day.
