Overview

In problem-based mathematics, students build their understanding of a concept over the course of several lessons, so it is essential that teachers leverage formative assessments to see what is and isn’t making sense to students.When using assessment for learning, teachers can intentionally adjust their instruction in response to student understanding. In this workshop, teachers will explore the available formative assessments within the curriculum and consider how they can effectively respond to student thinking within their upcoming lessons.

Specifications

• 3 hours In-Person, or 2 hours Virtual
• Participants will need a computer with access to Zoom, a camera, a microphone, and stable Internet connectivity

• Explore the teacher guidance for a series of lessons and apply the suggestions to interpret a sample set of student data
• Build a plan for responding to student data with effective feedback and instruction
