Overview

Problem-based instruction is driven by student ideas and strategies that arise when they work on rich mathematical tasks. This requires purposeful planning for each phase of an activity and the 5 Practices for Orchestrating Productive Mathematical Discussions create an accessible framework for that planning. In this 2-hour virtual activity planning session, participants will explore the conditions for a productive work time and how the practices of monitoring and selecting empower students to independently reason and solve problems.

Outcome

I create an environment that supports students to collaborate and communicate about their math thinking.
