Overview

Problem-based instruction is driven by student ideas and strategies that arise when they work on rich mathematical tasks. This requires purposeful planning for each phase of an activity and the 5 Practices for Orchestrating Productive Mathematical Discussions create an accessible framework for that planning. In this 2-hour virtual activity planning session, participants will explore the characteristics of a quality activity launch and how the first practice of anticipating helps with planning for this critical phase of an activity.

I create an environment that supports students to collaborate and communicate about their math thinking.

• 3 hours In-Person, or 2 hours Virtual
• Participants will need a computer with access to Zoom, a camera, a microphone, and stable Internet connectivity
