OpenSciEd is a phenomenon-based curriculum driven by students’ questions in order to engage in three-dimensional learning of disciplinary core ideas, crosscutting concepts, and science practices. Teachers need a detailed understanding of each unit’s storyline and the routines that support the shift to phenomena-driven instruction. In this workshop, participants will experience an anchoring phenomenon, explore OpenSciEd’s instructional routines, analyze a sample unit, and plan for initial implementation.
