Problem-based curriculums are carefully crafted to tell a mathematical story that helps students develop conceptual understanding and build procedural fluency over time. To bring this story to life and maximize student learning, teachers need to understand both the learning progression of a unit and how to facilitate effective discourse within each lesson. In this workshop, participants will analyze the learning progression of an upcoming unit, plan to facilitate instruction based on the unit goals and materials, and explore strategies for fostering meaningful mathematical discourse in their classrooms.
