Students will learn how to compose a persuasive letter in preparation for tomorrow's culminating activity where they will compose a persuasive trying to convince me to pick their choice of iPad apps.

The students will learn the elements of a great persuasive letter as they compose a letter to a prospective Mars astronaut persuading the astronaut to either carry out the mission or to rethink their decision about the mission.

To support your point of view, you must have reasons and evidence (facts, details and information); to understand another person's point of view, you must be able to identify the reasons and evidence he/she provides.

Realizing when an author is giving us their opinion is difficult. In this lesson students will use a text they know well to help them write fact and then write opinions that the author could use.

Students will research, write about, and present the PERFECT app for our 4th grade classroom to me, the teacher, in the hopes of convincing me to purchase that app.
