Big Idea:
In this lesson, students play a jeopardy game using a smart board, to review important fraction concepts. Students will complete a fraction assessment in the near future, so this is an important lesson for me to gauge students' abilities and skills.

Big Idea:
Students will practice multiplying fractions by whole numbers by constructing a list of ingredients needed when making multiple batches of a recipe.

Big Idea:
In this inquiry based lesson students collaborate to solve engaging real world problems in order to add or multiply mixed numbers to whole numbers.

Big Idea:
In this lesson, students interact with a story about King Fraction. Through interacting with the story, students gain an understanding for finding a fraction of a whole number.

Big Idea:
Using a mathematical model, students will be able to visually see the process of how to multiply a fraction by a whole number to find its product in order to gain a deeper understanding to ultimately be able to do it on their own.

Big Idea:
In this partner work lesson, student work with pattern blocks and their creativity to design a shape pattern that has at least one line of symmetry. Students also find the fractional value of each shape and calculate in order to calculate the total value

Big Idea:
In this lesson, students work with a partner and an Ipad app to present solutions and strategies to a fun and engaging fraction word problem.

Big Idea:
Using this pre-assessment, students will show the rigorous understanding that Common Core demands about multiplication of fractions by whole numbers.
