Support early-career teachers to become high-quality educators through actionable professional learning, mentorship, and job-embedded training.
Supporting and retaining teachers throughout the first five years of their career requires a clear plan and measure for success, differentiated professional learning for new teachers, and support for the educators who will be leading the initiative. Our learning plans include four distinct phases of implementation to launch and sustain a professional learning plan for teachers who are new to the classroom.
The BL Lab is at the center of professional learning for both new teachers and leaders. New teachers can access lesson plans and resources, work with their coach, track progress toward their outcomes, and measure their confidence in using new strategies in the classroom.
Instructional leaders can access a full library of bite-sized courses to support new teachers with research-backed learning anytime and anywhere.
Administrators gain a comprehensive view of the entirety of their professional learning programs, as well as an understanding of learning progress across multiple groups of educators.
Launch experiences are designed to bring together new teachers and the leaders who will work together to create changes in practice. During a launch for a new teacher initiative, educators will work collaboratively to understand key outcomes for success in becoming a student-centered educator and create a plan for actionable next steps and ongoing reflection.
New teachers need to be supported with job-embedded coaching. Instructional coaches who are specially trained in working with teachers in the first five years of their career will work with teachers to explore new concepts or skills, apply them in the classroom, and measure the impact of these practices on students.
Learning Walks are a non-evaluative tool that helps instructional leaders assess the quality of student learning and effectiveness of instruction using data. Leaders can support new teachers by understanding what success looks like in the classroom, learning how to support new teachers to achieve their target outcomes, and refining their professional learning plans using what they uncover during the Learning Walk.
Provide new teachers with collaborative learning experiences so that they can work together towards the changes you want to see in the classroom. Virtual Workshops focus on targeted learning outcomes so that educators can set goals, identify manageable implementation steps, and create a plan to reflect on results for continuous improvements in practice.

New teachers won’t get the comprehensive support they need from one-off PD days. Our learning plans are created from in-person, virtual, group, and individual learning experiences that are paced throughout the school year and built off of previous learnings. Our team will create a tailored learning plan that’s based on your district’s strategic plans to achieve real outcomes for your new teachers.
Every learning experience focuses on working towards a specific outcome to make changes in practice specific, impactful, and sustainable. For new teacher initiatives, we focus on helping educators achieve the below outcomes.

“Teachers feel supported in trying new things that they wouldn’t have tried without BetterLesson’s support. Teachers are more thoughtful due to the reflection built into the cycle. And, our veteran teachers really appreciate it as they are often the ones providing support to others.”
“This is my first year of teaching. My coach helped me establish clear goals for my planning and new strategies I can use for effective classroom management and student engagement. The evaluation helped me reflect on my teaching practices and identify new areas of growth.”
