Overview

This Unit Guide will give you an opportunity to look closely at the goals, lessons, and learning progression of Illustrative Mathematics Algebra 1, Unit 2, Linear Equations, Inequalities, and Systems. This understanding will inform your daily planning and decisions that you will make when teaching this unit to your students.

By the end of this course, educators will be able to:

  • Articulate how students are invited to the math, build their conceptual understanding and make connections and progress towards procedural fluency.
  • Identify how they will personalize the lessons to students to increase access to the content without removing the rigor of problem-based structures.

Audience

Educators using the OUR 6-8/IM 6-12 curriculum who are preparing to teach this unit and who have no or little experience teaching this unit, or who are looking to better understand the flow and content contained in the unit.

Outcome

I consistently use the curriculum’s problem-based structures to plan meaningful learning experiences for my students.
