Overview

The difference between reacting and responding starts with one’s ability to make responsible decisions. By developing understanding and practicing to build confidence, students will become socially and emotionally competent citizens of the world. In this course, you will learn about the value and importance of responsible decision-making, while also learning how to teach this skill to learners.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Define responsible decision-making and review examples of how it develops
  • Explore strategies to explicitly support your students to develop responsible decision-making skills
  • And leave with confidence to integrate responsible decision-making strategies into your teaching practices to support students with the skills they need to make responsible decisions, independently

K-12 teachers new to SEL or new to education; those needing support to develop the social and emotional competence of students.
