Recruiting effective teachers is among the strategies that have the greatest impact on accelerating student learning and is also among the most labor intensive for principals (McQueen, 2021). Not only must principals actively recruit new talent, they are also charged to effectively onboard, mentor, and provide coaching and support for educators. Bringing strong teachers and developing their strengths is an ongoing effort that requires vision and intention (Holcombe et al., 2021). Within this topic, BL Coaches will provide principals with tools to attract and retain high-quality staff that translate into a rigorous school program that produces better educational outcomes for students.


This learning experience is designed for those newer to the Principal role, assistant principals, and teacher leaders developing leadership knowledge and skills.

  • Plan to share completed reflections and exchange feedback on the Community Discussion Board as a follow-up to the VW to prepare for 1:1 coaching
