Overview

After building an understanding of the components of ALL Block, participants are ready to apply what they have learned to strategically plan to support the needs of their students. Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on implementation and learn from each other around successes and challenges.  An instructional coach will introduce participants to strategic planning as a process, which can be replicated, and collaborate to solve common challenges.

Audience

Strategic Planning with ALL Block VLS is designed to support teachers who have experience teaching ALL Block and who have given at least Module 1 assessments.   This is NOT for educators who are new to implementing ALL Block.

Specifications

  • 3, 2 hour virtual sessions
  • 20 participants
  • 3-5 educators
  • Participants will need a computer with a camera and microphone, access to ALL Block materials (print or digital)

Outcomes

Over the course of the three sessions, participants will engage in reflection on their current practice, analyze student data from Module assessments, engage in planning processes and utilize planning templates and curriculum resources.

  • Using Data: Teachers use data and student work products to inform instructional decisions and group students for differentiation
  • Meeting the Needs of All Learners: Teachers plan strategically to meet the needs of all learners using curriculum resources and supports
  • Strategic Planning: Teachers understand the purpose of the curriculum components and practices and use them in both internalizing units and daily lesson planning to support student success
  • Resources, Templates and Videos: Teachers know where to find and how to use EL Curriculum resources, BetterLesson support documents and can leverage video to improve instruction

Learning Experience

Over the course of the 3 sessions, participants will reflect and refine components of the ALL Block, engage in a process of using data to strategically plan for instruction and focus on management and engagement while planning.

Session A: Self-Assessment and Refining Practice in ALL Block 3-5

In this session, participants will self-assess where they are with the implementation of ALL Block in order to focus on specific components during future sessions.  They will dig into the overall components of ALL Block to refine practice.
