Overview
In this course, you will build an awareness of planning the whole group portion of the K-2 Skills Block in the Open Up Resources EL Education Curriculum. We recommend you take this course after the Launching a Skills Block Design Workshop, Going Deeper with Strategic Planning Design Workshop, or after the Introduction to Skills Block Workshops. This course is recommended for educators who have a strong understanding of the design and structure of the Skills Block Curriculum and are interested in receiving support with planning responsive whole-group instruction.

Learning Experience
- Learn: Participants will review the key goals of the whole group lesson in the Skills Block and locate the aligned curriculum resources that are available for planning a whole group Skills Block lesson that meets the needs of diverse learners
- Do: Participants will plan a whole group skills block lesson by exploring the curriculum resources and instructional routines used in the whole group portion of an exemplar Skills Block lesson.
- Call to Action: Participants will Identify 1-2 curriculum resources that they will use when planning for the whole group portion of the skills block and explain how the resources will support them in meeting the needs of the learners in their class.
