In this virtual workshop, participants will explore different approaches for creating connections between the math content in an Algebra 1 class and their students’ interests and experiences.

- Define the what, why, and how of designing math learning experiences that connect to students’ lived experiences & interests
- Explore the considerations necessary for thoughtfully teaching a math lesson in a social justice context
- Build a plan for strengthening their students’ connections to the mathematics they work with in class
