High frequency word instruction is a critical component of foundational literacy for early readers and writers. In this course, participants will clarify misconceptions around terminology used in the field in order to define high frequency words, explore the progression of Fry and Dultch high frequency word lists from K-2nd grade, and engage in research based activities and routines that support high frequency word acquisition.
I plan high-quality lessons for all research-based components of foundational literacy instruction (PA, Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency, and Comprehension) that maintain high expectations for student performance.
