Overview

Every student brings unique interests, strengths, and experiences that can enrich the learning environment, especially students with diverse learning needs. When these elements are at the center of instruction, students feel valued and engaged, leading to deeper learning and a stronger sense of belonging. In this virtual workshop, participants will explore strategies to uncover and incorporate student interests and strengths into their teaching, learn how to design learning experiences that celebrate all students, and develop a plan to create a classroom where every student thrives.

Specifications

• 3 hours In-Person, or 2 hours Virtual
• Participants will need a computer with access to Zoom, a camera, a microphone, and stable Internet connectivity

Learning Experience

• Define the importance of positive teacher-student relationships and how to support students to define their identities
• Explore strategies and resources to learn how to build relationships and help students to share their identities
• Build a plan for implementing these strategies in the classroom.
