Building students’ ability to compute flexibly, accurately, and efficiently, while balancing the development of students’ conceptual understanding can be challenging. Identifying the productive practices that develop fluency, unlocks students’ ability and confidence to calculate efficiently with connections to the “why”, not just the “how”. In this interactive 2-hour, virtual workshop, participants will engage with examples of fluency-building activities and build a plan to incorporate fluency activities into an upcoming lesson or activity.
I engage and support students in lessons that promote reasoning and problem-solving.
