I include **Warm ups **with a **Rubric **as part of my daily routine. My goal is to allow students to work on **Math Practice 3 **each day. Grouping students into homogeneous pairs provides an opportunity for appropriately differentiated math conversations. The Video Narrative specifically explains this lesson’s Warm Up- Function Test Review Day 1 which has students evaluate a scenario from a graph (**Math Practice 7**). This warm up comes from the Math Assessment Project.

I also use this time to correct and record the previous day's Homework.

#### Functions Test Practice Test

This Functions Practice Test is a review style that I use for all of my units. I have decided to use the class time for students to work on this review in class since it is early on in the year and I have introduced to the more modeling in this unit than my student will have seen in previous courses. This also enables me to provide individual or small group instruction.

To ensure success (classroom management) I have two techniques. First I have that students work only with their current partners rather than friends. Secondly, I have students follow a classwork Self Evaluation Rubric. Students give themselves a score from 1 to 5 that is turned in at the end of class as part of their daily grade. Using my notes from the class, I give them a score as well. Students then earn a score according to the follow: If mine is higher than theirs, I will give them the my score. If theirs is only one higher than mine, I will give them their score. If theirs is two or more higher than mine, they will receive a zero. This keeps students fairly honest about their own work ethic.

Any portion not finished during class should be assigned as homework to be corrected the next day.
