Objective

SWBAT write a letter to Mr. Gross both thanking him and reflecting on his visit yesterday.

Big Idea

Using our words for good.

Warm Up

15 minutes

Today is Free Read Friday.  (The link here takes will take you to an earlier lesson with my reflection explaining Free Read Friday.) Students will read their personal library books for the first 15 minutes of class.

Lesson & Independent Work

35 minutes

Class today is all about reflecting on yesterday's experience.  I was with our guest all day yesterday in order to help out as he navigated an unfamiliar town, school, etc. So, I haven't had the chance to talk to many students yet. I am excited to hear their thoughts.

We will have a little time of open conversation about the day.  Then, I will ask students to take a handout from the caddy (Included in the resources).  We will review it together, and students will have the rest of the period to work on this task.  I will visit students at their seat, reading and assisting.

Wrap Up

5 minutes

To wrap up class, I will ask students to share what they have so far with a partner.  Then, give each other feedback based on what the task requires.

This will be collected on Monday so students have the weekend to finish.
