## Objective

SWBAT determine slope when given two points.

#### Big Idea

How do I find the slope when I don't have a graph? Is there a different way to find rise over run? Another good ol' classic -- the slope formula.

## Warm-up

10 minutes

Each day, students complete a Warmup that usually consists of spiraling the previous day's material, in addition to older material.  Warm-up problems also sometimes extend lessons that students have encountered before to more unfamiliar contexts.

In this case, the warm-up not only gets kids to practice finding slope, it brings back graphing of special cases -- the horizontal (y = a) and vertical (x = a) lines.  I find that kids need a lot of practice seeing these over the course of several days to beomce fluent in this.
