**Opener: **As students enter the room, they will immediately pick up and begin working on the opener – **Instructional Strategy - Process for openers**. This method of working and going over the opener lends itself to allow students to construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others, which is **mathematical practice 3**.

**Learning Target**: After completion of the opener, I will address the day’s learning targets to the students. In today’s lesson, the intended target is, “I know that probability is a number between 0 and 1; I can determine the probability of simple and compound events; I can use experimental probability to make predictions; I understand that experimental probability gets closer to theoretical probability as more trials are completed.” Students will jot the learning targets down in their agendas (our version of a student planner, there is a place to write the learning target for every day).

Probability Review Explore Narrative This review requires students to create sample spaces (**MP 4, 5**), work together and reason through problems (**MP 1 and 3**), and be precise (**MP 6)**. Some students will be able to determine compound probability without the use of models, as they have recognized the repeated reasoning that takes place in the problems (**MP 7**).

As a summary to this lesson, I am going to open the floor for a class discussion on any questions students may have regarding probability and the test on the following day. I want to ease their minds, and lead them in the right direction for studying!
