I include Warm ups with a Rubric as part of my daily routine. My goal is to allow students to work on Math Practice 3 each day. Grouping students into homogeneous pairs provides an opportunity for appropriately differentiated math conversations. This lesson’s Warm Up- Imaginary Numbers Day 2, asks students to determine which expressions are equivalent to i as well as describe any strategies that they used.
I also use this time to correct and record the previous day's Homework.
The first 10 problems are some practice problems of the guided practice in class. These problems reinforce the lesson and help the students identify their level of mastery with the material. The final two problems ask the students to use the patterns discussed in class to identify i25 and i63.
This worksheet was created with Kuta Software which is an excellent resource for a mathematics teacher.
I use an exit ticket each day as a quick formative assessment to judge the success of the lesson.
Today's Exit Ticket asks students to multiply two imaginary numbers which specifically checks whether students understand how to multiply to imaginary numbers.
