## Objective: Students will review solving and graphing polynomial functions and equations.

## Big Idea: Students reinforce their knowledge of polynomial functions while increasing their ability to successfully prepare for a summative assessment.

#### Warm up and Homework Review

I include **Warm ups **with a **Rubric **as part of my daily routine. My goal is to allow students to work on **Math Practice 3 **each day. Grouping students into homogeneous pairs provides an opportunity for appropriately differentiated math conversations. The Video Narrative explains this lesson’s Warm Up- Polynomial Functions Review Day 1 which asks students to explain whether or not a binomial is a factor of a polynomial.

I also use this time to correct and record the previous day's Homework.

#### Polynomials Quiz

The lesson includes a formative assessment that covers solving polynomial equations, graphing polynomial functions and writing polynomial equations given the roots. I have included two versions of the quiz as I alternate quizzes like a checkerboard. Please read more about my Quiz Procedures.

This quiz is a portion of the review so it is important to return these corrected then next day. Students will have a better idea how well they have mastered this portion of the unit and this will aid them in directing their study efforts most effectively.

#### Review Activity

This review activity which uses white boards begins today and will finish in the next lesson. Each student receives a whiteboard, marker and eraser or tissue. I give my students an assignment grade for participation on days like this. My expectations are that each student participates in the review. I allow them to draw on the board (they are going do it anyway) as long as they are working each problem promptly and their drawings are school appropriate and they don’t color the entire board (this wastes my markers). Students really enjoy doing something novel like this (as long as white boards aren't used constantly) and it is a great activity for getting good insight into students’ understanding and/or misunderstanding.

The problems on the review reflect the types of problems the students will see on the test. Please see the Practice Test for information on the exact objectives that are being tested.

I may add problems for additional practice, if needed.
