# Exponential and Logarithmic Functions Review Day 1

Lesson 13 of 15

## Objective: Students will be able to review the objectives covered in this unit.

*41 minutes*

I include **Warm ups** with a **Warm up Rubric** as part of my daily routine. My goal is to allow students to work on **Math Practice 3** each day. Grouping students into homogeneous pairs provides an opportunity for appropriately differentiated math conversations. The Video Narrative explains this lesson’s Warm Up- Exponential and Logarithmic Function Review Day 1 which asks students to compare several expressions containing rational exponents.

I also use this time to correct and record the previous day's Homework.

#### Pass The Paper

*30 min*

This review activity will be started on the first day of the review and completed on the second day. I call this a Pass the Paper activity. Each page has two review problems. In pairs (my students are already grouped into homogeneous pairs), they will solve the problems together. If there is only one step, they will complete that step on the paper in front of them and then pass it to their partner to be checked (**Math Practice 3**). If there is more than one step, they will do one step of the problem and then pass it to their partner. Their partner will check the first step and then do the next step. They will continue to pass the papers back and forth until the problems are completed.

I then pick two people from a random grouping to put the problems onto the board and then explain them to the class. A good strategy here would be to have a roster and mark off students as they present on the board. This makes sure that all students have the opportunity to participate. At the end of the review, the papers are stapled together and turned in for a grade. I have included one set of problems per problem type. Additional problems could be presented if it seems evident that the students need more practice on a specific type of problem.

#### Homework

*1 min*

This assignment is a common style of review that I use for all of my units. For more information, please check out Practice Test.

#### Exit Ticket

*5 min*

For an exit ticket, ask the students to list those problems that they would like additional practice with. This information can lead the review for the next day.
