#### Warm up and Homework Review

*10 min*

I include **Warm ups** with a **Rubric** as part of my daily routine. My goal is to allow students to work on **Math Practice 3** each day. Grouping students into homogeneous pairs provides an opportunity for appropriately differentiated math conversations. The warm up to launch the quiz activates students' critical thinking by having them analyze a complete the square problem for accuracy. This problem came from an terrific website mathmistakes.org that focuses on collecting and discussing mathematical errors that students produce. I regularly use examples from this website in my lesson planning.

I also use this time to correct and record the previous day's Homework.

#### Homework

*10 min*

The goal of the day’s homework is to ensure that the students have mastered completing the square. This is one of the skills that will be used again this year as well as the next. I intent to use a puzzle worksheet (located on page 220) from Algebra with Pizzazz or a similar style book. Puzzle worksheets can be a great source of practice since the puzzle allows the students to self correct. I have included an alternate worksheet made from Kuta Software that can be used in place of a puzzle worksheet if you do not have a similar resource book available.

My students will begin working on this assignment as soon as they have finished the quiz.
