Reflection: Relevance Elmer 1 of 2 - Section 4: Wrap Up

I love reading about Elmer.  He is different.  Different is not bad, it is just not the same.  We are all different.  We are all not bad, we are just not the same.  I love how this series of stories makes being different acceptable and lovable.  We learn from the stories that we are different but fun together.  Just like our class.  It is fun to learn this concept when we are young.  The world has us seeing ourselves in such a negative way.

The Elmer stories excite my students to want to talk, write and draw.  The CCSS can seem intimidating but can be applied to fun books like Elmer.  Today my students eagerly drew sequenced pictures and gave very accurate retells.  Today went really well.  Lesson objectives accomplished!  yeah
