Reflection: Student Ownership Persuasive Research - Section 3: Synthesizing

The note taking process is such a complex task that will take time for students to develop proficient skills.  I am still getting students not to highlight too much just the information they need.  After that, students need to "write in their own words" or at least paraphrase to avoid plagiarizing.  I encourage students to always write their sources to give credit to the author.  For the most part, students are improving their research note taking skills since the beginning of the year as shown in student artifacts:   Animal Rights Rearch Sample and Highlighting Notes.  They are still working on becoming concise writers.
