Reflection: Checks for Understanding Employing Sensory Language to Develop Poetry about a Jolly Rancher - Section 4: Wrap Up


This was a fun activity but it challenged some of my students to remain focused on the task - to write a sensory poem.  This student sample, student poem, focused on following the rubric and include the sensory information required.  It is playful and shows imagination.  

Other student's work lacked such imagination by just stating what happened in a form of a list. I understand that many of my students struggle with expression in written form.  I wonder if it would have assisted some of my more reluctant students to complete the activity if I would have offered them an additional template with more direction including questions that can be answered?
