Reflection: Real World Applications The Art of Rhetoric Part 1-Persuasion vs. Argument - Section 1: Warm Up


It is not a coincidence that we are reading "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus' just before Christmas.  I have used this piece for years and somehow - no matter the unit -seem to find a way to make it fit so we can read the piece near our Christmas break.  Not only do I think it is a beautiful piece of writing, but it is a cultural piece.  With so many references to it in the real world, I want them to understand beyond a cartoon that they watched as a kid.

I'm building life long learners.  Helping them see the reading/writing connections all around us is very important.
