Reflection: Intrinsic Motivation The Art of Rhetoric Part 4 -Analyzing Text - Section 1: Warm Up

I chose to show students this funny little video for a few reasons. One, obviously, entertainment value, it is funny. Two, I'm hoping to motivate students to argue more intelligently by showing that this type of argument is not only silly, but childish.  Middle school students pride themselves on being "older", so I am going to play that card. Finally, this video opens the door to talk about the human need for support in argument.  The smaller of the two boys tries to get a parent t back him up...why?  He needed support.  The other boy demonstrated that his brother was very small.  Again, he is trying to support his argument.  The problem is it isn't working for either of them.
