Reflection: Students with Disabilities Journal Writing: The Plague - Section 4: Dear Journal Writing


As the student begin to write, I walk around to my student's with special needs. I ask them to tell me their fact and I write it. I also ask them for one more idea at least that they want ot add to theri journal. I write this too. 

I ask them to tell me what they might write and I leave them to it. They can use my notes that they created, to develop their journal. Having a model will help them stay focused and feel success for what they have just learned. If I had left them to just write, they might have gotten only a sentence.

Unit 21: Lesson with Writing
Lesson 6 of 7

Objective: SWBAT write a journal entry from the point of view of a Native American that survives the plague. They will use what they know to write and give evidence.

Big Idea: The Plague changed history and in this lesson students get to explore what the plague is and the results that occurred from it coming to the Americas.
