Reflection: Modeling Blackout Imagery Project Part 2 -One Step Ahead of Hitler - Section 2: Project Work

As I mentioned in the video of the last lesson, this project was a product of luck.  Our original project plan fell through due to internet blocks in place in my district.  This project was one we had planned for our poetry unit, but one of my colleagues suggested we go for it with this topic.  Our PLC discussion led to ideas and outright enthusiasm at the combination of the power of this book with creating images.

What I know now is that had I had time, I could have worked with the art teacher at my school to create an instructional video for class.  We could have showed them several techniques up front -like creating the blocks of text first, then outlining the image -all with pencil.

As always hindsight is 20/20, but make no mistake I was pleased beyond words with the projects.  More importantly, Mr. Gross was moved by the display when he arrived.
