Reflection: Adjustments to Practice Publishing: For the Digital Age (Day 14 of 15) - Section 5: Closure


My original plan was to have students make completely digital books - text features and all. However, lack of resources (multiple flash drives and cameras) coupled with a lack of time forced me to change my plan. Even without the digital cameras and flash drives, students could still create completely digital books just by using a smart phone and uploading the files yourself. But, again, this is fairly time intensive and difficult to manage if not planned well in advance.


So - hence the compromise. Most of the books were created digitally and the extra features were added by hand the old fashioned way. I was honestly pleased with the results! Students created a “professional” looking book with a personal touch. The best of both worlds!

Big Idea: On the last day of the publishing process, students add text features to each of the four chapters in their books.
