Reflection: Standards Alignment The Navajo Tribe - Section 4: Writing - Compare/Contrast and Paraphrase

Paraphrasing is an activity that we added last year as we shifted to the common core.  This has been a great skill to teach the kids.  Their initial instinct is to COPY.  If they learn now how to paraphrase, they will be so much better off as they get older and write research papers and book reports.

I am finding that the common core has improved and fine tuned some of the things we were already teaching.  It pushes us to a higher level of thinking both as teachers and as students.
