Reflection: Pacing What Does That Mean: Using Context Clues to Understand New Words - Section 1: Introduction


This is a new lesson since Common Core. I wanted to challenge them by providing various context clues. Although I think they understand context clues, in a conceptual way, I wanted them actually see and interact with specific kinds of context clues. If I was to do this again, I would spend 1 day on a lesson so that they really understand how to use them when they are reading.

Big Idea: When students can identify which type of context clue is present, they can utilize the clue to understand new words.
