Reflection: Connection to Prior Knowledge Off We Go - Section 3: Writing activity

This assignment did not involve writing.  It could have.  And I probably should have had them write.  But I did not.  The CCSS requires the students to be able to stand in front of the class and be comfortable with orally expressing themselves clearly about their feelings and ideas.  I thought this book led perfectly into us talking about going to Grandma's house.  Most students adore their Grandmothers.  It was very endearing to hear what each student liked to do at their Grandmother's house.  I video taped a shy and quiet student who is hesitant to talk on camera.  I had to prompt him, but he did a great job.  As a teacher I need to provide multiple opportunities for my students to work on all CCSS.  So for this assignment I did not want them to read, I wanted them to freely talk.
