Reflection: Organizational Systems News Article vs Editorial - Section 2: "City Schools Cut Parents' Lifeline"


This is routine when we read; they put a number at the indent of each paragraph.  I tell them how many paragraphs they should have; if someone does not have the correct number,  we go back and verify the paragraphs.  This is done by me saying the paragraph number (i.e. 1, 2, etc) and the students responding with the first two words of the paragraph.  If someone has incorrectly numbered the paragraph, they can then correct it. 

The reasoning behind numbering the paragraphs is that when discussing or referring to textual evidence the students will say, “In paragraph (x),…” and the class can locate the reference.
