Reflection: Gradual Release Making Inferences with quotes - Section 3: Guided Practice

Scholars were not quite ready to be successful in partnerships, so I gradually released them to their partnerships.  I asked scholars what the important words were that we needed to underline in the question.  Then, we underlined the important words together.  Scholars then discussed the answer at table groups.  Each individual then pointed to a place in the text where they could find the answer.  Finally, I had each table group write the response on their dry erase board.

This more structured, more gradually released practice helped tremendously!!  As a result, we did not get to small groups, but will do so tomorrow.
