Reflection: Unit Planning Stronger vs Weaker Evidence for the Main Idea - Section 1: Creating the Purpose

In the past I have created student groups more quickly with a days review of each section of the worksheet. The problem was that I had to then review more often with students to get the expectations that I wanted to see on their worksheets and in their discussion groups. This year I added an additional day to each section - the first was more teacher directed and peer sharing/ the second being more independent and similar to the worksheet sections that they will complete with their book groups. In this way I could address problems as both as a class and individually as I walked around the classroom. I have them save these worksheets to use as a reference.

In this video I address some areas of difficulty my students have and ways that I adapt their discourse to improve understanding
