Reflection: Grappling with Complexity Columbus Sticky Note Paraphrasing - Section 2: S for Summary


The reason I chose to teach my class to label the sticky note with a "s," was to help them use this same lettering when we read closely. The next time we read a CLOSE text, I want them to use the margins to annotate where they could summarize the text. Like other annotations, an "S" will signal to them where they could use evidence from that part of the text to write a supported summary.
