Reflection: Checks for Understanding Text Features Support Answers to the Questions! (Lesson 1 of 2) - Section 2: Let's Get Excited!


I had planned to go over the text features fairly quickly because my students have had many lessons about these features. However, when I got to the explanation of the 'index', I was surprised to see that the students were unclear what the numbers (page numbers) were for.  

My check for understanding led a review of what the index does and how to use it. Take the time to ensure students understand and explain any confusing text features.
