Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding The Nurse and er, ir, and ur - Section 5: Closing


This lesson has so much practice in it I think the students really understand the sounds.  There are so many examples of words to read. There was only one below basic response.  Most students work was like the basic or proficient examples. I think it is important to analyze the below basic work and target the skill deficit for these students in a center with a buddy or in a small group. I usually make notes on a post it and put it on my desk so I remember who needs what specific phonics skill. I also like to assign them specific computer lessons based on this formative assessment.  I will assign the student who did the below basic work a lesson on ir, ur, and er.
