Reflection: Intervention and Extension Comparing Numbers - Section 4: Closing

During the independent practice time, I came across two students Checking Answers. Noticing some incorrect answers, I immediately begin providing support to one of the students through questioning and modeling.

After the lesson, I collected his paper: Student Work. (The student used check marks to indicate correct answers.) This student work sample shows that he understood the majority of the comparison tasks, but struggled most with those at the beginning. I think that he got the hang of it after the first few problems. Also, it looks like comparing the larger numbers that were close in value or had similar digits were the most difficult.

To help this student during the assignment instead of after the assignment, I could have asked him to write out each number on graph paper for comparison purposes.
