Reflection: Student Ownership Starting a First Draft By Setting Goals and Reviewing Organization - Section 3: Independent Practice


I was really excited to see that my students were showing more ownership over the process of writing an essay. During independent practice all but four of them got started on writing an introduction without much instruction except for my reminder.

Their retention was quite impressive and I attribute this to having students complete three different drafts of the genre of writing we are study for each unit. Shout out to our school's trainer, Cornelius Minor for this great idea!
