Reflection: High Expectations Volcanoes: Beginning Socratic Seminar Focus on Vocabulary Continued - Section 2: Teaching Strategy


I noticed that engagement waned when my scholars copied the 3 questions into their notebooks, so I did a quick call & response to amp up engagement and to ensure that all scholars were encoding the info. I asked scholars, "what is the first thing you're going to do?"  Then, they chorally responded by reading the first question.  I did the same for the second and third questions.  This helped me to know that scholars knew exactly how I wanted them to approach the work today.
