## Reflection: Connection to Prior Knowledge Using Mental Math to Divide - Section 4: Closure

The students used patterns for the multiples of 10 and 100 during the multiplication unit.  This prepared them for using patterns in division.  In this particular lesson, the students were able to use the shortcut method they learned previously in order to sovle the division problems.  The basic facts were used, then the zeros were counted.  I feel that it is important that the students can recognize patterns that will help them accomplish solving whatever problems that are set before them.
