Reflection: Student Feedback Personal Narratives: More of What to Write - Section 3: Prewriting

If you hit a topic that strikes a nerve within a group, go with it! On the day that my afternoon class completed the “Things I Wonder About” list, we had such a great time sharing our topics that students didn’t want to stop. So, I had them choose one from their lists and start writing. They listed all that they knew, wondered, or wanted to know about a topic and why it interested them. After spending some time writing, I allowed every student to share who wanted to. Normally I don’t spend much time sharing whole group, but when it was clear that I had found a topic that interested the entire class, I didn’t want that momentum to end.
