Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Lesson Rewind: Cutting a Scene in "The Taming of the Shrew": Act 3.1.1-95 - Section 2: Model the Cutting Process w/ Discussion

"The best laid plans of mice and men oft go astray." --Robert Burns

Sometimes a lesson doesn't go according to plan. Rather than continue on with my original unit plan, I prefer to revisit the lesson, admit to students that I should have done more to scaffold their learning, accept some responsibility for what didn't work, apologize and promise to do better next time, and reteach the lesson through modeling the original task.

Students appreciate this honesty, and we learn together from the experience.
